Message from the Department Head
Welcome to the Chemistry Department's Web Page

Chemistry is one of the scientific and applied fields that plays a significant role in human life, increasing both life expectancy and quality of life. Chemical modifications or changes are fundamental to many industrial activities, primarily in agriculture, food and pharmaceuticals, but also in textiles, automotive, plastics and many others. It is essential for countries to prioritise chemistry as a scientific discipline and cultivate skilled human resources in this field in order to develop and progress. The importance of chemistry becomes even clearer when examining the industrialisation of developed countries and the areas in which they conduct research and development. In line with our country's industrialisation and domestic production goals, the importance of chemistry and skilled human resources in this field continues to grow.

The aim of our Chemistry Department is to produce graduates who are well-equipped in their field, innovative, analytical and scientifically minded, highly self-confident, sensitive to their community/environment and open-minded, meeting the needs of our country's academia or industry. Ensuring that our students are educated with this goal in mind and are well-equipped is our top priority. Working towards this aim, our Chemistry Department was one of the first two departments to begin teaching at our university in the 2011-2012 academic year.

Our Department, located within Bursa Technical University, which is situated in one of our country's important industrial cities and has shown significant development in a short period of time, continues its education and training activities with an academic staff who have received education at various universities both domestically and internationally and are experts in their fields. Thanks to the advanced laboratory infrastructure in our department, our students have the opportunity to develop themselves by working directly with many devices and participating in various projects during their undergraduate education. Although the language of instruction in our department is Turkish, efforts are underway to launch 100% English undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. With its qualified academic staff and physical infrastructure, the department contributes to research and development activities in many industrial sectors.
