Dear Students,

First of all, I would like to congratulate all of you for your success in the university entrance exam and welcome you for choosing our faculty and joining us.

Bursa Technical University was established with the mission of a research university, and the faculties and institutes affiliated to our university are formed in accordance with this purpose. In this context, our faculty attaches special importance to having a distinguished academic staff as well as strong research opportunities. Because our university, and especially our faculty, has determined to be an institution that not only repeats and uses known information, but also produces new and original information, makes it applicable and useful and offers it to our society and humanity as the most important task. One of the most important reasons that encourage us in our efforts to this end is our firm determination to prepare you, our students, for life in the best possible way. With the thought that it will serve this purpose, it is envisaged that at least one third of the lessons will be taught in English in our curricula. In addition, there are serious attempts to establish healthy and continuous relations with industrial organizations. Thus, the ground is prepared for our students to develop their professional practices before they graduate. Our faculty members are systematically encouraged by our deanery to focus on the problems of the industry, to develop solutions and to produce and realize projects in this sense. As a result, you will be able to examine real problems in life and develop solutions in your lessons.

As you would appreciate, highly qualified academicians and a strong physical infrastructure are the necessary conditions for success, especially in undergraduate education, but the most important element is the hardworking, determined, idealistic and characterful student. Therefore, I must say in advance that you will have to work hard and get tired to be successful. However, be sure that your efforts during the education period will benefit you in your life after graduation, and keep this in mind during your student life. Our country has very serious issues that need to be resolved in the fields of economy, technology and science in order to increase its reputation in the world, and you are among those who will solve them. Therefore, you need to be very well educated in all aspects of your job and profession.

We should not expect others to make an effort for our country and nation to take the honorable place they deserve in the world. Because this is our duty. With this consciousness and understanding, I sincerely believe that you will make very good use of this period of your life in our faculty, and that you will leave our faculty as well-educated and patriotic individuals in all respects and do very good things for the welfare and strengthening of our country, and I wish you success in your new academic life.
