Dear Students and Visitors,
Chemical engineering is a broad and multi-faceted branch of engineering, dealing with the development and application of processes in which industrial raw materials or chemicals are transformed into more useful or valuable forms using chemical science, mathematics, physics, biology and economics. The essence of chemical engineering is the design, construction and operation of processes where raw materials are transformed into useful products for humanity and the solution of industrial, technological and environmental problems.
Chemical engineers work in the chemical and petrochemical industry, petroleum refineries, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, plastic, natural and synthetic fibers, food and beverage, cleaning products, fuel and energy, waste treatment, paper, automotive, electronics, paint, glass, ceramics, drilling and inspection, metal and coating, process control, medical instruments and artificial organs, technical sales, consulting, training and research, finance, government sector and universities. The 21st century chemical engineer spearheaded the development of new technologies, as well as the development of advanced technologies such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, fuel cell technology and the like.
The aim of our system-oriented undergraduate education program, which supports multi-faceted, analytical thinking and creativity, is to train Chemical Engineers who can develop new projects as well as being a researcher, designer, open to the competition, capable of doing advanced economic analysis, and have an environmentally conscious and sustainable development understanding. For this purpose, in addition to the basic engineering courses in our undergraduate program, various technical elective courses are given in order to determine the fields of Chemical Engineering students who have a very large working area. To achieve this, the program has been prepared in accordance with the criteria of national and international accreditation (ABET and MÜDEK) organizations. The courses in our department are designed with the latest developments in modern chemical engineering education and the requirements of the industry. In the process of preparing for the curriculum, the Departmental Advisory Board consists of industrialists and senior executives with experience in the chemical industry, faculty and student representatives.
Department of Natural Sciences, Architecture and Engineering Department of Chemical Engineering has started its education in 2013-2014 academic year. The language of instruction is Turkish and also students whose language level is not sufficient for English can attend one year elective preparatory program at the School of Foreign Languages. In order to contribute to the development of our students in the technical and social fields, national and international student exchange programs such as Farabi and Erasmus and Mevlana are among our primary goals. In addition, for students who want to train themselves better, there are also double major and minor opportunities in different fields within the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Architecture and Engineering. Our department located in one of the most important industrial cities of our country in Bursa Technical University with its highly qualified academician staff and physical infrastructure, petrochemical, automotive, energy, plastic, aerospace and defense industry in our country has been carrying out serious work in the fields of chemical engineering research and development activities in our field to make a significant effort for the development of those who are aware of their professional responsibilities and strive to serve the community.
